Solid weekend in penultimate championship round
Round four of the Stars of Silverstone Championship was a solid if not unspectacular meeting for Michael. After never quite finding the ultimate pace, Michael qualified his car second on the grid in both qualifying sessions. Michael made another good start in race one but was unable to maximise his speed advantage on the entry into turn one after being boxed in by a number of Zeus'. After being held up during the first half of the race by slower Zeus cars, Michael had lost ground over the race leader but had pulled a clear margin out between himself and the third place driver. "I was really just trying to get the car to the end of the race as I was having another gearbox problem. I was lucky to finish in second after a terrible exit out of turn one completely destroyed my lead over the third place driver.
Race two saw a thrilling three car battle involving Michael over a number of laps. The extremely close yet clean racing provided great entertainment for both the drivers and spectators. However, this quickly became a two car battle as Michael had another bad exit out of turn one. "I could not get the car into gear and I lost a lot of time whilst wrestling with the gearstick. I am fairly certain that I was experiencing a clutch problem today, as it was as if the clutch was not fully engaging. Luckily one of the cars in front made a mistake over the start/finish straight which meant that I was able to climb back up to third. Today was a very hard day of racing and slightly frustrating although I learnt that it was important to score some valuable points today, which should leave me in good shame for the final round next month".
