Perfect end to Stars of Silverstone Championship for Broadhurst
The final round of the Stars of Silverstone took place on the Stowe circuit, located on the inside of the main Grand Prix track. In the baking summer heat, Michael ended the practice session as second fastest, before taking pole for race one. Race one was a textbook drive from Michael; after making a perfect start he was able to pull out a clear margin over his nearest rival. "The race was quite straight forward, as I was concentrating on keeping my nose clean and maintaining a good gap. It was frustrating towards the end of the race, as I was right up behind a couple of back markers, yet there were no blue flags being shown. I could see the gap decreasing to Antonios (Salamantis) in my mirrors".
As commented by Autosport, race two proved to be the most exciting race of the day. After making a bad start, Michael dropped back behind a number of cars and was being held up for a number of laps. "I could see Antonios pulling away from me ahead and I knew that I just had to go for it and get ahead of the others at every opportunity". With no cars between Antonios Salamantis and Michael, he had the hard task of closing him down before the end of the race. "I was pushing so hard during race two to close the gap down between us. I gave it everything I had and was able to get right behind him". Once together, the two drivers swapped places until the end of the race and were side by side throughout the fast corners. The end of the race eventually saw Michael take the race win and ensured the top spot in the championship. "It was a fantastic race and very clean racing, definitely the best drive in my short career so far!" Antonios commented after: "Michael drove a great race and I felt extremely comfortable racing with him wheel-to-wheel. He deserved to win!"
