Faultless start to second Stars of Silverstone Championship for Broadhurst
Michael returned to Silverstone for the opening round of the second Stars of Silverstone Championship on the Stowe circuit. Having won the first championship in Formula First, it was decided that Michael should compete the second championship in the quicker 1.8 litre, fuel-injected Formula Zeus cars. The free practise session was the first time that Michael had even sat in a Zeus car but managed to set the fastest time despite not knowing the car.
After setting a time fractionally off pole in qualifying, Michael lined up second on the grid for race one. Wasting no time at the start of race one, Michael made an incredible start and launched himself to the front of the pack for turn one. From there, he was able to pull away into a commanding position and drive a faultless race to the flag, securing him his first win behind the wheel of a Zeus and the first of the new Stars of Silverstone Championship. "I made a great start and was able to pull out a comfortable gap without having to push that hard. Luckily traffic was not a major issue so my race was never compromised".
After his success in race one, Michael lined up on pole position for race two. Another fantastic start ensured he had the run into turn one and from there he was able to pull out an even bigger lead than race one. "I made a great again and managed to pull out a big gap on the opening lap. I could see the cars behind squabbling for position and knew that I would be much faster with the clear track n front of me. As with race one, I was able to pace myself until the end of the race but knew that I could have gone quicker if necessary. This has been a perfect opening round to the new Stars of Silverstone Championship and I am looking forward to the next meeting on 24th September".
