Michael forced out of final rounds at Brands Hatch
Due to financial difficulties, Michael was sidelined from racing at the most important meeting of the year at Brands Hatch, which supported the British Touring Cars and Formula Renault UK Championship in front of a packed crowd and live television coverage. ?We were still working to secure a budget for the weekend on Friday morning but unfortunately we were unsuccessful. I was realistic about our chances this weekend as we were at a major disadvantage compared to the other drivers, as I?ve never been on the circuit before. It?s a frustrating and demoralising way to end the season as I was really aiming to go out on a high. Looking at the results from both race one and two, I think we would have been extremely strong and in contention for a couple of podiums?.
With the BARC Formula Renault Championship of 2006 now complete, Michael can now concentrate on preparing for a Formula Renault UK campaign in 2007. ?We are completely focused on Renault for next year so our next step is to continue work on securing a budget for a winter testing programme and next season. We have also been looking at the final rounds of the 2006 Renault UK Championship at Silverstone (14-15th October) as an evaluation of where we stand for next year. Hopefully we can put a budget together for that meeting?.
The final rounds of the Formula Renault UK Championship will be supporting the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Silverstone. Rounds 19&20 will be shown live on ?Motors TV? on Saturday and Sunday, while highlights will be shown later on ITV?s ?Motorsport UK? program.

Michael?s final thoughts on the season:
?Overall I think the season has been fantastic. The progress we have made over the course of the year has been excellent considering my total lack of track time and racing experience. Against drivers with a lot more experience and mileage under their belt, I have shown that I have the raw pace to be a competitive front runner. With the right backing and preparation for 2007, I definitely think we can be near the top?.
