Michael back in action!
After a seven month absence from the cockpit of a racing car, Michael returned to testing at Silverstone with the Hillspeed team, exactly a year on from his first run out with the team at the same venue!
With a shorter day in prospect, maximising track time would be crucial but the day got off to a bad start when the left-rear drive shaft failed after just five laps. ?It was an unfortunate situation to be in because we lost the whole first session but luckily it happened close enough to the pits that I was able to limp home and get the car fixed for the second session?.
Despite such a long absence from the car, Michael was instantly on the pace, setting joint fastest laps throughout each session, proving he had not lost any of his raw speed.
In the third and final session of the day, Michael concentrated on longer runs, using the whole one hour available to work on car setup. An intensive winter training program paid dividend as Michael looked fitter and more alert than ever.
?It was a great relief to finally be able to get back behind the wheel after so long. We made good progress today for a base line setup and could have done with another run to fine tune things. The long hours in the gym have certainly paid off and I?ll be working even harder during the build up to the first round of the championship at Donington Park the 27-29th April. I?d like to say a big thanks to the Hillspeed team and everyone at ?The Sport Connection? for all their hard work?.
