Michael flies in Formula Palmer Audi testing return
With the 2009 racing season fast approaching, Michael Broadhurst made a welcome return to the cockpit of a 300bhp FPA car at Bedford Autodrome this morning (Monday 9th March). Having not even sat in a racing car since his British GT Championship race win last year, Michael had his work cut out to get on the pace.
“It’s always frustrating going into a new season not knowing when you will get back in a car again or even what that car may be. The current financial slump certainly has not made it any easier for us get our plans firmed up in advance. When the opportunity came to test an FPA, I was extremely excited. Not only did it give us an insight as to how competitive I could be this year in the championship but it was also a good benchmark to see how far I’ve come as a driver because the last time I drove this car was back in 2004”.
Despite the less than ideal weather conditions, Michael wasted no time in getting up to speed and was easily on the pace of other championship hopefuls.
“I’m really pleased with how the test went today. The conditions were tricky but we were right on the money from the word go. I wasn’t quite as comfortable in the car as I should have been so the car could be a bit of a handful at times. There is however definitely more time to come so if we do compete in the championship this year, I’d expect to be fighting at the front”.
The 2009 Formula Palmer Audi Championship will be held over 20 rounds at 7 of the Country’s best loved circuits, supporting headline series such as A1GP, DTM and WTCC.
The winner of the championship will receive a test in the new F2 car (billed as an official Formula One feeder series), plus a £50,000 scholarship fund, plus a potential nomination into the ‘McLaren Autosport Award’ (worth a further £50,000 fund and McLaren Mercedes Formula One test).
The Formula Palmer Audi Championship boasts fantastic partnership benefits such as extensive television coverage, superb corporate hospitality in the all-new FPA race centre and exclusive days for entertaining clients and staff.
