As the BARC Formula Renault Championship entered the final half of 2006, Michael was determined to return to the front of the grid where he started the season. Arriving on the back a very successful test at Thruxton (16/8/06), Michael was straight to work in testing and in the tricky conditions, proved to be the early pace setter.

The Oulton Park Island circuit played host to the seventh round of the 2006 BARC Formula Renault Championship. With this being Michael?s first visit to the Cheshire venue, the team opted to take part in an extra test prior to the meeting to enable him to learn the track. ?We had a great first test in the build up to the race weekend and I learn a great deal about the circuit and car.

The BARC Formula Renault Championship returned to Snetterton for rounds five and six, the midway point of the season.

Michael and the Hillspeed team made their sportscar debut at a shakedown at Donington Park (3/6/06) with the team?s new Radical SR3. The day was blessed with superb weather conditions allowing the team and drivers to find the true pace of the car.

The BARC Formula Renault circus moved to Croft (Darlington) for the third and fourth rounds of the championship where Michael was determined to make a good impression for his new Hillspeed team.

On the back of an extremely professional and successful Silverstone meeting, Michael headed to Snetterton for the second round of the BARC Formula Renault Championship full of confidence.

After securing a late entry to the opening round of the 2006 BARC Formula Renault Championship with Falcon Motorsport at Silverstone, Michael had the hard task of jumping straight into the qualifying session on Saturday morning after missing out on a testing entry. ?We were too late to reserve a testing slot so we missed out on some valuable running on Friday.

Michael returned to Silverstone for the opening round of the second Stars of Silverstone Championship on the Stowe circuit. Having won the first championship in Formula First, it was decided that Michael should compete the second championship in the quicker 1.8 litre, fuel-injected Formula Zeus cars.
