The first race of the weekend was scheduled to be the last event of the day during Saturday’s busy timetable. Despite looming grey clouds and strong winds, the weather remained dry for the duration of the race. With a good grid position, Michael was confident of progressing through the field with the podium in sight.

With only 20 minutes to qualify for three races on the short Silverstone National circuit and a grid of 20 cars, it was always going to be a hectic session. Running on new tires in the Ginetta for the first time, Michael found it difficult to generate enough temperature in them to maximize their full potential.

Michael Broadhurst hit the track today (28th August) along with a healthy grid of 20 identical Ginetta G50 cars. With two 40 minute sessions to get the car ready for the weekend’s races, Michael made full use of the track time to build experience and work on car set-up.

Michael will be back in action this weekend (28-30th August) driving for Welch Motorsport in the highly competitive Ginetta G50 Cup at Silverstone (Northampton). The team have already tasted victory in the championship this year, and Michael is optimistic of his chances going into the weekend.

The entire motorsport fraternity was deeply shocked and saddened today when it was announced that 18 year old Henry Surtees, son of former Grand Prix driver John Surtees had died in hospital from severe head injuries, following a crash in the second Formula Two race at Brands Hatch.

Today (Sunday 3rd May) Michael Broadhurst and team-mate Joe Osborne took an 8 point lead in the GT4 European Cup after sealing a superb race two victory in which nearest rivals Nigel Moore/Jody Firth were eliminated in a start line accident.

Joe Osborne started today’s race (2nd May) from pole position and after dropping behind Mallock’s Aston Martin N24 at the start, he quickly got back past him and then set about opening a big lead. Nigel Moore was able to pass Mallock a lap later and was pushing hard to catch the PMB Ginetta but Joe was more than up to the challenge and began to edge even further away from the works car.

Qualifying one for Saturday’s race (2nd May) went according to plan, when Joe Osborne secured pole position from Michael Mallock’s Aston Martin N24. The team put new tyres to get maximum grip for what turned out to be a competitive session in which most teams found a lot more pace.
